IceRiver KS2 Lite and AL2 Lite in 2026: Are These Home Miners Still Worth It?

Updated October 10, 2026. Rewritten with verified specifications, current prices and profitability, and newer Kaspa miners for comparison. These machines first shipped in 2024; earlier versions described them as new in 2026.

IceRiver’s KS2 Lite (for Kaspa) and AL2 Lite (for Alephium) were built for people who want to mine at home: small, quiet machines that plug into a normal outlet. Two years after launch, the question is whether they still make sense. Short answer: they are fine for learning, but at today’s prices they do not earn money for most people.

The KS2 Lite at a glance

  • Coin and algorithm: Kaspa (KAS), kHeavyHash
  • Hashrate: 2 TH/s
  • Power: 500 W
  • Efficiency: 250 J/TH
  • Noise: about 45 dB, roughly a quiet office
  • Size and weight: about 20 × 20 × 11 cm, 5 kg
  • First shipped: October 2024
  • Lowest listed price: about $560 (October 2026)

The AL2 Lite is the Alephium (ALPH) version of the same small home design. IceRiver’s parent company, BGIN, designs its own chips for both coins.

Does it still earn money?

At an electricity price of 7 cents per kWh, MiningNow estimated the KS2 Lite’s profit at about −$0.23 a day on October 11, 2026. In other words, even on cheap power it costs slightly more to run than it earns. At a typical U.S. home rate of 15 to 22 cents, the loss is larger.

That is the normal life cycle of mining hardware: as more efficient machines join the network, older ones earn less for the same electricity.

How it compares with newer Kaspa miners

Model Hashrate Power Efficiency Lowest price
Antminer KS7 36 TH/s 2,772 W 77 J/TH $1,370
IceRiver KS7 Lite 4.2 TH/s 500 W 119 J/TH $699
IceRiver KS2 Lite 2 TH/s 500 W 250 J/TH $560

The KS7 Lite uses the same 500 W but does more than twice the work, which makes it the natural replacement for anyone who wants a quiet home Kaspa miner. Full-size machines like the Antminer KS7 are far more efficient but loud and power-hungry, and they belong in a hosting facility.

Who the KS2 Lite still makes sense for

  • People who want a quiet, low-risk way to learn how mining, pools and wallets work
  • Miners with very cheap or free power, such as surplus solar
  • Anyone who values the small amount of heat it gives off in winter

If you want the best chance of earning more than you spend, compare efficiency (J/TH) and your real electricity rate before buying, and check a live profitability calculator on the day you buy.
